Fernandina Flockers

The Village of Fernandina has 2,478 homes split between both sides of Pinellas Place.

However, 143 of these homes are in a quieter and smaller section known as “Fernandina Flockers.”  The name comes from the fact that the 5 streets in this 208 section all have bird names – Mockingbird Lane, Thunderbird Way, Quail Court, Birdsong Place and Owl Drive.

When this section of the Village of Fernandina was established in 2012, new residents Marge and Bill Frankenberger visited the first neighbors to build and move in there and they spread the word about a new social club they proposed calling the Fernandina Flockers.  The name caught on and the social club has been active since then.  Bradenton Recreation Center on Pinellas Place is the meeting place for the social club.  Club events are generally available to non-villager guests of the Flockers.

As time progressed, a 50/50 was established to support club events and to pay for supplies for club activities.  An AED neighborhood program was started with funds donated by most of the residents at that time.  There are 3 AED’s located throughout the neighborhood and there are several trained volunteer responders.

An annual Flockers Feast is held each November before Thanksgiving and the proceeds of that 50/50 help support the AED program.  Members provide all the fixings for a true turkey feast.

The Fernandina Flockers area is a little unique in the way it has been laid out.  Mockingbird Lane is the main street with the other four streets angling from it, making the neighborhood pretty private and very easy to navigate.

Many of the homes back to views of the beautiful Destin and Fort Walton championship golf courses and a lovely pond.

The Village of Fernandina is located almost centrally in the Villages now that homesites have been expanded much further south.
